Tween Siblings in Studio

Carli and Landon are 11 and 13.

Their mom booked a Session because she was ready to update the wall portrait over their mantle. It was a family portrait that Calotype had taken when Landon was two, so nine years had passed and she wanted something to reflect this stage of their lives. They decided to have just the kids photographed, one outfit, in the studio. I took several to choose from (individual and together). Here is their slideshow of all the images- just as they saw it in the studio.

Note: This slideshow contains unretouched photos, shown to the clients right away since they were traveling to Calotype from out of state and we needed to photograph and order in the same day. Later, my retoucher and I went back through to fix the shirt gap, glass glare, the spot of dust inside the camera that shows up as a small dark spot, etc. Any purchased images from Calotype are always retouched.

Carli and Landon’s parents loved so many of the photographs that they couldn’t decide on which one. So I designed a custom collage in front of them, using their input, as a 30x38 Signature Canvas (vibrant, detailed canvas stretched over a solid wood frame to make a canvas gallery wrap). Here it is:

The printed version won’t have the large Calotype logo, of course, and will have dark gray edges that wrap around the canvas on the sides.

What do you think? Would you pick one image, or several as a Collage? How long has it been since you had portraits of your kids? You can email me your questions or comments!

Update:

Their mother sent me a picture of the Canvas at home on the mantle. Do you like it?
