My Christmas Portrait Sessions are available this year on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th. 

I have special packages, only available for event.  To book, you’ll pay a deposit of 100.00 (Friday) or 150.00 (Saturday) which goes partially toward your purchase, partially for my creative time. The minimum package is 399.00 and will include four poses: four high quality archival prints, plus the high resolution digital files of those prints. (Or you can swap the four prints for a larger wall portrait to display as yearly Christmas decor!)

Of course, you don’t decide what you purchase until you see how the photos turn out! If your kids are anything like my Charlotte (above) they’re going to FUN pictures!

It’s our Annual Calotype “Back to School” Picture Event!

Do you love yearly school pictures of your children, but wish they weren’t so boring? Every year at this time, Calotype opens the studio for upgraded school portraits!

It’s the same package we do every year:

One 8x10” print, 2-5x7” prints, 2-4x6” prints, and 8 wallets (all one pose). From what you tell us, this assortment provides most everything you need for yourself and family. I’ll take 3-5 different poses for you to choose from (you’ll come back later to view and choose which ones you like).

It’s just one child at a time (no siblings posed together).

Pay up front when you book- this keeps things moving effortlessly and ensures everyone shows up!

Background choices are a clean white background (see above), a medium gray one-of-a-kind artist-painted concrete-look canvas backdrop (below) and another unique artist-painted, warm-toned brown/copper/espresso background. Between these three, I’ll find a backdrop that best suits what your kiddo is wearing.

To avoid feeling rushed, I’ll ONLY be photographing- instead of having clients stay and choose their images right away.

In times past, a few people felt pressure to choose quickly, but I’m here to make your life MORE comfortable, not add pressure! So after photographing your child, I’ll have you pick a date to return to the studio/Zoom call, and you can view your images then with plenty of breathing room.

I can help! I have openings left and I’d love to work with moms who are tired of chaotic photoshoots- but they still want to document this stage of life with their children.

My studio is intentionally designed with minimal props and lighting, strategically placed to bring your children in and begin the photoshoot with minimal drama. The focus is on their eyes and faces, but I always pull back for some fun, interactive images to show you. I promised you’ll feel good about the results!

I love studio work, but fall is a glorious time to head outside!

Many of our clients agree, and schedule their fall Portrait Sessions a year in advance. (You can book for next year, too- just email me and we’ll go over some dates). But if you’re wanting to take advantage of fall color in 2021, don’t wait a minute longer! My dates are sometimes dynamic, changing with the weather, but here’s the usual schedule for best lighting:

Mondays 3 or 4 PM

Tuesdays 3 or 4 PM

Fridays 9 AM; 3 or 4 PM

Saturdays 9 AM; 3 or 4 PM

AFTER THE TIME CHANGE on November 7th (Sunday) I will not offer a 4 PM since it gets dark so soon.

REMEMBER- these are outdoor Sessions and we’re working with available light. If you choose to do a studio time, we have more time options available!

Some quick info to know:

1. Most of my Sessions are photographed here at Big Spring or Morse Park, both very close to the studio. If you have a location you’d like better, just let me know in advance so I can schedule your Session at a time when the sun is to your back.

2. If fall color is the most important thing, I’ll have you pick a reserve date when you schedule. There’s no extra charge, but it keeps me from overbooking and not having a second date to offer you if rain messes up your first option. If you can only do one date, then we’ll plan on doing as Studio Session if there’s inclement weather. We’ll discuss all this when you book- I love to listen to what’s really important to you!

3. An outdoor Session fee is 250.00, paid in advance to book. Due to high demand for this limited time, there are no refunds if you change your mind, but your payment will be kept as credit toward your next experience.

COVID-19 UPDATE: This year, we’re spacing appointments out further so people aren’t stacked on top of each other (that’s a good thing!) We’re offering earlier opening times and later closing times to accommodate. Also, instead of selecting your images by looking on the back of the camera, you’ll be in the studio projection room so you can make your choices on the big screen (that’s also a good thing!)

Your Session lasts about 20-25 minutes. It takes us another 30 minutes to prepare your images for viewing, so you can run for coffee or wait at the studio. Then, we’ll play a slideshow on the big screen of the images we created, and you’ll decide at that point what you would like to purchase. Your prepaid 150.00 deposit goes toward whatever package collection you choose. It usually takes clients around 30 minutes to make their decisions. Plan on spending about an hour and half, total, for the Family First Portrait Event. Note that studio space is limited- we recommend 1-4 adults or up to 6 children for this particular event. Of course, large families are ALWAYS welcome, but we don’t want to put unrealistic expectations on your time. Contact us and we can arrange a different time for larger families.

We can photograph at the location of your choice. If you don’t have any specific places in mind, the Crystal Bridges trails in Bentonville and George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond are always great choices. Depending on time of day, there are lovely places close by the studio where we can also shoot outside.

The All-Inclusive Package Collection is 1300.00 and includes our creative Session time together, all the images as high-resolution digital files with print release, plus 5x7 archival proof prints of every image. Payable in installments.

Grandparents are a gift- let’s honor them, show them love, and recognize the strength, information and guidance that older people can offer!

Friday and Saturday Only, September 6 & 7: 9-6 on Friday and 9-2 on Saturday

Bring your grandparents in for a 30 Minute Studio Session; it can be just one grandparent or both, or ALL… and you can even bring the grandkids* to make an amazing memory! We’ll photograph your grandparents by themselves, then add the grandkids, too.

Some things we learned from last year:

1. Let’s photograph whatever grandkids can make it to the studio. So many families are separated by distance and busy schedules, and as the kids gets older it’s nearly impossible to get everyone together at exactly the same time. TRY TO, because it’s worth it. But if you’re missing the grandkid that works or lives out of state, DON’T make the other grandkids miss out on the opportunity to have this memory with their grandkids. Let’s photograph who we can get there, because we aren’t promised next year.

2. On that note, if the grandkids are very young and bouncing off the walls- GREAT! Bring them! They may want to run around the camera room the entire time, but you know what? They’re there! Time is precious, take the picture!

3. Don’t stress about clothes. Yes, if you can get everyone to dress in similar tones it will look very nice. But you know what else looks nice? Happy kids and grandparents, doing their own thing, and smiling! If granddad always wears his poultry farm hat, then let him wear it in pictures. And if cousin Sophia has been at her dad’s house all weekend and shows up in a rainbow sweatshirt when everyone else is wearing neutral button-downs, IT’S OK. We can work with it! We’re just glad she’s here!

The Session itself was a little frustrating- getting everyone ready is hard! Someone wants a snack, someone needs to potty, someone wants to aggravate a random sibling… I left feeling exhausted!
